In 2019, the South Texas Book Festival has become an award-winning book festival!
McAllen Public Library won its first ever International Festival and Events awards. Amongst those awards is a Gold Award for Best Invitation for the Murder Mystery Fundraiser.
We’ve also won 11 awards at the 2019 Texas Festivals & Events Association Annual Conference! Among those awards were the following for STBF:
Gold: Best Event Program (South Texas Book Festival), Best Educational Program (Spirit Week, South Texas Book Festival), Best Event Within an Event to Benefit a Cause (Masquerade Murder Mystery Fundraiser), Best Social Media Campaign (South Texas Book Festival).
Silver: Best Social Media Site (South Texas Book Festival), Best Program Cover Design (South Texas Book Festival), Best Event Invitation (Masquerade Murder Mystery Fundraiser)
Bronze: Best Street Banner (South Texas Book Festival)
The Texas Library Association (TLA) awarded a 2019 Branding Iron Award to McAllen Public Library. This award honors the creative work libraries do to promote their programs, resources, and events. MPL received recognition in the Rebranding category for the promotional campaign that revamped the McAllen Book Festival to the South Texas Book Festival. The Branding Iron Awards, presented every year in ten public relations categories, are announced at the TLA Annual Conference.
